Sub-prefect bans debate in Yaoundé

La Grande Palabre was cancelled for the third time and the organizers are planning on seeking legal recourse.

"For the third time, we are victims of the abuse from the sub-prefect of Yaoundé 1 who refuses to deliver us the receipt of statement of public meeting on the pretext that Germinal has no legal backing conferred by its receipt of declaration n ° 034, RDDJ, J06, BASC issued on July 25, 2003, is not able to organize a public meeting. Yet 38 times, this same sub-prefect and his predecessor have issued Germinal 38 receipts of declaration of public meeting", Jean-Bosco Talla the Director of the newspaper Germinal revealed.

Due to the reasons he stated, the session of the "Grande Palabre", the conference-debate will not take place as expected at the Franco hotel in Yaoundé, on December 11, 2014.

They announced their relocation to Hotel Jouvence 2000, still in the capital.

The sub-prefect Jean-Paul Tsanga Foé explained that the debate "Grande palaver" is contrary to the deposit receipt of declaration of the press organ of Jean-Bosco Talla which Jean-Bosco Talla disputed.

He demanded "the provisions of the Act that prevented his newspaper to organize a public meeting" and announced its intention to apply to the courts.

The session of La Grande Palabre, 11 December 2014 had as theme: 'Cameroon and Africa caught in the pincers of odious debt and the Western imagination'.
