Tiko Councilors want Deputyi Mayor sacked

Tiko Councilors have said they want the 2nd Deputy Mayor of the Tiko Council; Blessed Tita sacked due to what they termed allegations of embezzlement, misconduct.

Councilors raised the issue during the 1st ordinary session for 2016 financial year to examine, deliberate and adopt 2015 administrative, management and Stores Management Account on Saturday, June 4 at the old council building in Tiko.

The councilors threatened to boycott the session if the Deputy Mayor, Blessed Tita does not walk out of the hall.

Unanimously the councilors noted that a letter was sent to the administrative authority requesting the sack of the deputy mayor given that they could not condone with his too many headaches which are not good for the council reputation.

Reacting to the many quests of the sack, The Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Zang III, noted that he had received the complaint, but it is in the place of the minister of territorial administration and decentralization to make the final decision on the situation.

He added that a team has been set up to investigate the matter thoroughly and assured them that law will take its course so that ignorance is not considered. The agenda was finally adopted as presented by Mokoko Mbonjo and the meeting followed suit.

According to the 2015 account, total revenue stood at FCFA 946,870,784 as to 766,220,076 of 2014 experiencing an increase of 180,650,708 with a percentage of 19.07%.

Expenditure stood at FCFA 880,808,273 as to FCFA 707,786,520 in 2014 with an increase of 173,021,7753cfa representing 19.06% in 2015.

Based on their 2015 action plan, all their projects where 100% executed in rehabilitation and decoration of Likomba roundabout, construction of culvert of Likomba, Electrification of Tiko council area, bulldozing of dumping site at big Kange, maintenance of some major roads with gravels in Tiko amongst others.

The mayor to the Tiko council, Moukundo Daniel complained of two repeated projects which appeared in 2015 and 2016 as he termed the selection criteria as copy and paste rather than the council development as prescribed. He pleaded on the SDO to relook into the situation through state organs in charge of the process.

The mayor equally complained that African football has come to the Southwest region and only Limbe and Buea have benefited with 3 and 2 stadium respectively. “ Tiko is the heart of football in the Southwest coupled with the Fact that the recent SW President of FECAFOOT is from the Tiko municipality, Tiko has nothing to show for, not even a training ground” he highlighted.

Mayor Mokoundo noted that in the cause of the achievements, there were some hindrance which would have boosted the revenue if revenue collectors especially taxation staff and some unscrupulous council workers did not bring in personal interest and others.

On the part of the supervisory authority, Zang congratulated the Lord Mayor for a job well done with an increase of total revenue, increase from council taxes, and increase from additional council taxes.
