A workshop organised by the Member of Parliament from Mfoundi, Hon. Jeanne Ottou, took place yesterday.

Some 40 community leaders, municipal and traditional authorities and civil status officers of Yaounde IV Sub-division have been drilled on the need for civil status documents and the importance of regular medical check-up.

A one-day workshop organised by the Member of the National Assembly for Mfoundi, Hon. Jeanne Ottou, took place yesterday June 6, 2016, in the Nkolndongo Women Empowerment and Family Centre.

Speaking at the workshop, Hon. Jeanne Ottou stated that many citizens are ignorant of the importance of establishing civil status documents such as birth, marriage and even death certificates.

The workshop was thus to sensitise opinion leaders who would in turn sensitise the general public on the necessity of civil status documents, which to her, form the basis of life.

Apart from the need to obtain civil status documents, the health of the population of Yaounde IV also preoccupies the MP. According to her, Cameroon’s attainment of economic emergence by 2035 depends on the good health of Cameroonians.

Reason why she opted, alongside her partners in the health sector, to educate the population on the importance of regular medical check-up. She says regular medical visits can help prevent diseases such as cancer, hepatitis, sexually transmissible infections amongst others.

In this connection, Hon. Jean Ottou has constructed two modern toilet facilities and water storage tank at the Nkoldongo District Hospital.

Her initiative which falls in line with her parliamentary activities was appreciated by the Yaounde IV administration. The CPDM MP also explained parliamentary activities and the laws adopted during the past legislative year and used the opportunity to also donate didactic materials to the Nkolndongo Women Empowerment Centre.
