The Yaounde International Inner Wheel Club recently visited and donated 74 solar bulbs and two blackboards to government secondary school Ngoya II of the Okola Lobo District in Yaounde.
The gifts were donated as part of activities marking their anniversary, celebrated every 10th January.
This year’s event was celebrated under the theme “Light the path”.
The Governor of the Yaounde Club, Marcelline Wantou Siantou, explained that the association prefers visiting the poor and underprivileged instead of organising parties on each anniversary.
In this light, students of the Government Secondary School are happy beneficiaries of a solar bulb each.
The Director of the school, Enama Manga Anicet says the gifts will serve in combating some of the difficulties faced by the school. She went on to explain that the institution lacks qualified personnel, open-space classrooms and transportation facilities.
The theme “Light the path” therefore was chosen this year to help students facing such a plight. During the ceremony, the Inner Wheel President urged the students to use the solar bulbs to study their lessons and obtain good results.
Students and teachers expressed gratitude to the Yaounde International Inner Wheel Club.
The International Inner Wheel Club is made up of spouses of men that constitute the Rotary International Club.
