AFCON 2016: CAF delegation evaluates sports infrastructure

A delegation of experts from the confederation of African Football, CAF has begun evaluating Cameroon’s readiness to host the 2016 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

The delegation led by the CAF Executive Member of Tanzania nationality, Leodegar Tenga began their inspection at the Yaoundé Amadou Ahdijo Stadium and the annex stadiums. They also visited the military stadium Yaoundé.

The head of the construction team at the stadium, French Architect Herve His told the visiting delegation that a new look Amadou Ahidjo Stadium will be delivered by the October 17, 2016 deadline that is one month to the kick off of competition of November 19, 2016.

He said the stadium that will host the opening match and the finals will be equipped with a surveillance system, two giant screen and a high capacity generator.

They also explained that Electronic entry command post which gives access to the stadium to holders of tickets who will be expected the slot their tickets into the electronic ready for the access way into the stadium to open.
Officials of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT and members of the National organizing committee accompanied the visiting delegation.

The evaluation team comprising two women; Heba Abdalla, senior manager of Women’s and Futsal competitions and Inas Ahmed representative of the department of logistics included Ahmed Makhlouf of the Marketing department and Koffi Addae of the media department and Mohamed Baker of the technology department.

They are expected to visit the selected hotels to host players and delegations in Yaoundé on Wednesday. They will carry out inspection tours at Mont Fébé hotel, Djeuga Palace Hotel, La Falaise Hotel and Hilton Hotel.

Three hotels; Mont Fébé hotel, Djeuga Palace Hotel, La Falaise Hotel will host teams while CAF officials will be lodged at the Hilton Hotel. Referees will be host at the CAF Centre Excellence at Mbankomo.

Upon arrival in Yaoundé this Monday July 25, 2016, the CAF delegation met with members of the national organising committee of the Women’s African Cup of Nations at the multipurpose sports complex.

CAF Executive Member, Leodegar Tenga who is heading the delegation told pressmen that the CAF mission to Cameroon has come to inspect the infrastructural readiness and the enthusiasm of the Cameroonian people to welcome the event.
