Les Elephants and Indomitable Lions to get over opening round draws in quest for knock-out stages.
With more 1-1 draws than you can shake a stick at the Africa Cup of Nations is yet to really come to life and nowhere is that more so than in Group D where both of the opening games finished with that exact scoreline.
This does, however, mean the group is wide open and as such both the Ivory Coast and Cameroon will be going all out for victory.
Les Elephants are the 4/5 favourites for their meeting with Mali, while the Indomitable Lions can be backed to defeat Guinea at 9/10, but Ladbrokes News has scoured the markets for three better-value bets and come up with these three.
They may have been held in their tournament opener but Cameroon are unbeaten in nine matches and will expect to put down a qualification marker with a comprehensive win over Guinea, who have won just three of their last eight outings.
The stats suggest that Volker Finke’s men won’t have an easy time of it, however, with Guinea scoring in each of their last seven games.
Cameroon have conceded in each of their last three games too, making this one boost to back.
Ivory Coast to win to nil @ 33/20
Les Elephants will be disappointed to have drawn their opener but will be confident of bouncing back having beaten Mali in their last three meetings.
With all of those victories coming without conceding a goal and two of them coming in AFCON action the group favourites will expect to highlight their tournament credentials.
With Wilfried Bony too short a price and Gervinho banished to the sidelines due to his sending off against Guinea the stage looks set for Manchester City’s Yaya Toure to lead by example once again.
The City man has bagged nine goals already this season and with four of those coming first in games it would be no surprise to see the midfielder set up a much-needed Ivory Coast win.
