Alex Song watched West Ham beat Lusitans on Thursday night as he edges closer to a permanent move to the club.

Song posed for photographs with supporters at Upton Park and looks set to remain in east London after an impressive loan spell.

He agreed personal terms with the Hammers last week, even having an injury treated by them, but the move has been held up.

West Ham wanted to land the midfielder on a free transfer after Barcelona originally asked for £6million, although it is believed they are close to reaching a compromise.

That was further muddied by interest from across Europe.

Manchester City, Chelsea, AC Milan and Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan were all weighing up moves.

But Song’s presence at the Europa League game on Thursday means he is likely to be a West Ham player this season.
