The Under 17 national football team has begun the second phaseof preparations for the African Cup ofNations (CAN) that will be organized from 15thFebruary to 1st March 2015 in Niger.
According to a member of the technical staff, the choice of the forty junior players presently in camp at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza was based on the requirements of the Cameroonian football technicians.
The Coach of the Cadet squad,Joseph Atangana, said the third phase of preparation scheduled to take place in January will focus more on the game and set up the various strategies and combinations needed by the junior players.
Cameroon qualified for the CAN Cadet Football at the expense of Ghana, who was eliminated on grounds of faking ages of players.
After a review of the application submitted by Cameroon, expertise and doctors of CAF, revealed that IsaacTwum, the goalkeeper of Ghana, had no legal age to participate in the competition.
It is on this basis that CAF excluded Ghana from the 2015 U-17 in favour of Cameroon.
