Choupo-Moting rejects Italy move

The Cameroon international moved to the Gelsenkirchen club earlier this month following the expiration of his contract with Mainz.

The 25-year-old, who starred for his country at the World Cup in Brazil, revealed that he had offers from Serie A clubs, including Inter Milan and Roma.

"There were a lot of offers, especially from Italy with Roma and Inter," Choupo-Moting told Ruhr Nachrichten.

"I wanted to [move there], but a move abroad would not help me at this point in my career.

"I chose Schalke because it is the ideal club for my growth and the Bundesliga is one of the most important leagues in the world."
