Ronald de Boer says the Ajax door is open if Samuel Eto’o wants to join the club – but insists he will have to lower his wage demands.
The Cameroon international, who was released by Chelsea earlier this summer, has been linked with a string of clubs in recent weeks.
The latest is Ajax and De Boer, who is part of the Dutch club’s coaching staff, insists the move could happen, but only if the striker wants it to.
“The rumours are there,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. “But it’s a decision Eto’o has to make.
“If he comes here it won’t be for the money. It will be for the adventure. Many great players have been to Ajax and felt how special the club is and maybe he wants to be part of that.
“It has to come from him. If it happens, for Ajax it would be a great singing. He is so popular all over the world.”
