Fecafoot offers fcfa 5 million to Lionesses

This was in a ceremony on JUne 21 at the seat of the federation in Yaounde.

In fulfilment of a promise made by the president of Fecafoot, Iya Mohammed to the Lionesses shortly after their qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations, the federation on June 21 offered a special bonus of FCFA 5.000.000 to players of the female national football squad. Speaking at the ceremony, the first vice president of Fecafoot, Francis Mveng representing the president, said the federation shares the joy of Cameroonians following the historic qualification for the Olympic Games and the Africa Cup of Nations especially as it comes at a moment when their male counterparts are finding difficulties in winning matches as the team is under reconstruction. He said the bonus of five million was symbolic and congratulated the Lionesses for the hard earned victory. "Not long ago, no body would have put a bet on the Lionesses winning teams like Nigeria and Ghana", he said.

The captain of the Indomitable Lionesses, Bella Françoise thanked Cameroonians for the support given them during the encounter with Ghana and promised that they will do their best to give honour to the national colours at the London Olympics. Meanwhile in a press briefing after the ceremony, Francis Mveng like Pontus Pilate, absolved Fecafoot of any responsibility concerning the present predicament of the Lionesses who cannot train because of lack of equipment saying it is entirely the responsibility of the National Olympic and Sports Committee to furnish the equipment as well as look for sparring partners for the girls since they are preparing for an Olympic competition
