Finke remains confident of victory against Mexico

Volker Finke says his Cameroonian team has the ability to overcome a “difficult team” like Mexico.

Cameroon’s German manager Volker Finke is confident he knows all about the threats Mexico will pose to his team’s World Cup opener on Friday, but believes his side can emerge victorious.

“I know that (Mexico) had a lot of problems in qualifying and that it was difficult, but it is a very dangerous team, with an intense spirit,” said Finke in a press conference in Vitoria on Tuesday.

“We’ve seen the videos of their friendly games and I can see that it is a difficult team, but we can beat them,” he added.

Finke went on to stress that Mexico’s players are well known for their technical ability.

“The Indomitable Lions” had their first training session in Brazil on Tuesday, following reports of problems in the camp due to payment of bonuses.

FIFA’s 56th placed team, Cameroon is scheduled to travel to Natal on Thursday morning, ahead of its Group A opener the following day.

Also Tuesday, FIFA announced Colombian referee Wilmar Roldan will take charge of the match between Mexico against Cameroon.
