I won't quit Lions - Finke

Cameroon coach Volker Finke insists he will not quit his job, despite the side's early exit from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Indomitable Lions recorded just two points from their three Group D matches as they drew 1-1 against Mali and Guinea respectively before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Cote d'Ivoire, which was enough to send them packing from the competition.

Finke's job has since come under pressure after failing to reach the knockout stages of the AFCON final for the first time since 1996, but he said he will not be stepping aside.

"I have a contract," he told Cameroon Tribune. "Throughout my career, I have always left at the end of my contract so I am waiting.

"I'm someone who doesn't like resigning or extending, whatever the cost because I do not work for financial reasons."

The German tactician, whose contract will end in few months, has thus declared his intention to carry on with the team.

"I already left a note [to the federation] for them to negotiate two friendlies matches in March to carry on with the work," he added. "This is a stable group with a good mentality. "Around the core, you can find players.

Every game is important to the players."
