Uganda Premier League defending champions KCCA FC are in residential camp ahead of their tricky return leg of the CAF Champions League away to Cosmos De Bafia in Cameroon on Sunday.
Abudallah Mubiru, the head coach told AfricanFootball.com on Monday night that although they won the first leg 1-0, they are determined to go and win in Cameroon as well. “I know it will be a tricky game, but we need to go and play better than during the first leg,” added Mubiru.
KCCA FC who bowed out of the CAF Champions League in the first round last year need a draw and win to qualify for the next stage. But the coach has said they will not be going to play for a draw but go all out like it’s a Cup final.
Mubiru’s team decided to request the League Committee to postpone their match against SC Victoria University that was slated to take place on Tuesday so that they concentrate on preparations for the Champions league match.
Striker Herman Wasswa who scored the lone goal against Cosmos De Bafia said he is hungry to score as many goals in the Champions League so that he can lead KCCA FC to the next level. “I am working hard on scoring as many goals as possible so that my team makes it to the Group stage,” said Wasswa.
Francis Olaki who moved from Armenia’s KF Tirana and missed the first leg is likely to recover in time for the away game, while Joseph Ochaya who was cleared by FIFA to leave Ghana’s Asante Kotoko is not registered for the competition.
In-case KCCA FC manage to qualify they will set up a date against Tunisia’s Esperance in the next round.
