Liverpool hold shock talks with Samuel Eto'o

Samuel Eto'o is the shock name on Brendan Rodgers’ hit list to solve Liverpool’s striker shortage.

The former Chelsea striker, 33, and his representatives are understood to have held talks with Liverpool about a possible move to Anfield.

Liverpool boss Rodgers is now considering whether to harden up a move for Eto’o, with Ajax also keen but the Dutch club are a long way from meeting his contract demands.

Cameroon veteran Eto’o has also been a target for West Ham and QPR but a potential move to Upton Park broke down when they refused to pay more than £40,000-a-week for the free agent.

That would not be such a problem for Liverpool who have been looking to add another striker to their squad since Loic Remy’s move to Anfield broke down.

Rodgers wants to bring in one more forward and Eto’o could be an ideal stop gap solution to bolster Liverpool’s impressive list of summer signings.

Eto’o would love to go to one of Chelsea’s title rivals to prove a point to Mourinho after their fall-out last season.
