Presiding officials for U-20 Lions qualifier selected

Amajita’s crucial African Youth Championship's first leg tie qualifier against West African counterparts, Cameroon, will be presided by officials from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The qualifier will take place in Yaoundé, Cameroon at the Stade Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo, with the match starting at 16h00 South African time.

Jean Jacques Ndala Ngambo will be the man with the whistle, and will be assisted by Olivier Safari Kabene and Daddy Diassiwa.

Mupemba Ignace Nkongolo has been selected as the fourth official, while M. Christopher Tom Abinye Green from Nigeria will be the Match Commissioner.

Amajita have been able to complete two full training sessions albeit without the bulk of their luggage which was left behind in Nairobi, Kenya during the squad’s connecting flight to Cameroon.

“I did say that we will take stock of what we have and then take it from there. Fortunately, we were able to have two full training sessions without hassle. It is also interesting to note that one of the bags that arrived was carrying the balls. The show went on and we have our last training session today (Friday, August 15) at the match venue,” said Amajita head coach Shakes Mashaba.

“We are here to compete, come Saturday, we will be ready. Theory time is gone it is time for practical things. We have been talking that we want to qualify; we want to win things and now is the time to do that practically,” added Shakes.

The return leg is scheduled for Polokwane on Sunday, August 31, and the overall winner between South Africa and Cameroon will qualify for the 19th edition of the African Youth Championships which will be held in Senegal from 8 – 22 March in 2015.

The top four at the AYC will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup tournament in New Zealand.
