Samuel Eto'o hints at playing in MLS (USA)

Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o may be considering moving to MLS after ending contract with Chelsea FC, if his Twitter account is to be believed.

At 33 years old, veteran striker Samuel Eto’o can still play at an elite level after scoring nine goals for Chelsea last season and captaining Cameroon once again at the 2014 World Cup.

With his one-year contract at Chelsea, Eto’o is deciding where to play next, and on Wednesday he used his Twitter feed to reveal some possible destinations.

Individual players stand a chance to be linked to Major League Soccer this time of year, especially following a World Cup, so perhaps the posts are just a ploy to drive up his pricetag for whatever the final destination may be.

Eto’o played most of his career in Spain with Real Madrid, Mallorca and Barcelona (where he was a teammate of New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry) before moving to Inter Milan in 2009 and playing two seasons with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala from 2011-13.

Having played in three of the world’s top leagues already, Eto’o may have yet another in mind, or maybe those are just potential off-season vacation destinations for his family. Only time will tell.
