Former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund speaks to Soccer Laduma ahead of the national team's crucial 2017 Afcon qualifiers against Cameroon.
"It is a very tough group and position we find ourselves in right now," he said.
"On our hands are two very hard games, both home and away because it is Cameroon. I don’t think both games are must-wins, though, but the maximum six points would take us right up there.
"What I can tell you now is it is going to be very tough in Cameroon. I believe we are capable of getting an away draw and a win here in South Africa. We should be realistic.
"Sometimes you can get yourself into a trap by thinking you should win both matches and go out there without caution, and end up getting disappointed. I am confident the players know exactly what to do. I am sure Shakes has done his homework and the team will travel in the right frame of mind.
"We know the journeys to the continent are very challenging experiences, so planning and mental strength is crucial.
"Going into Cameroon is not an easy task. Besides that, Cameroon are one of the football forces in Africa… we know that. But again I say that I am sure Shakes has used all this time planning, planning and planning.
"Things like travel routes, weather conditions, food and chefs… all these factors are very important. The moment the game starts, the players will only have on-the-field challenges to take on. We do not have to outplay them with possession like we can… you know, knock the ball around beautifully.
"Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get what you need out of the game. Cameroon have very big and physical players, so we will need to keep the ball and not give it away in certain areas. The players need to just follow Shakes' game plan.
"On top of all that, the players have to go out there to get the job done!" he concluded.
Bafana face the West African giants on Saturday 26 March at the newly-built Limbe Omnisport Stadium at 3.30pm.
