Thierry Henry urges Arsenal to resign West Ham loanee Alex Song

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry believes the Gunners should be doing all they can to bring in West Ham loanee and former Arsenal midfielder, Alex Song, in the near future. Furthermore, the new Sky Sports pundit compared him to Real Madrid icon Claude Makelele.

Song was chased by a number of clubs this summer as his future at Barcelona hit a brick wall, with the Catalan giants looking to offload him.

The Cameroon international joined the Catalan giants in the summer of 2012, but failed to make the desired impact in Spain after impressing for Arsenal previously.

Despite interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer, Song opted to make a loan move to West Ham on a season-long loan in August.

Henry told Sky Sports via the Express: “Song would improve Arsenal. That is the type of player you want in front of your back four.

“Song is the captain of the boat. He protects the back four. You need someone to dictate, put players into position, make little fouls by kicking someone – like Claude Makelele used to do.”

The 27-year-old has impressed so far under Sam Allardyce as the Hammers continue their good form, and his performances have attracted plenty of attention, with Liverpool again showing interest in him, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Song once again put in a good show against Hull City, as Sam Allardyce’s side defeated Hull City 3-0 at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon.

The former Cameroon international would make a big difference at the Emirates in the opinion of Henry, who made his debut as a Sky Sports pundit on Sunday, and has urged Wenger to make a move.
