Union Douala player suffers cardiac arrest

A Congolese National, Camille Kouyekimana, who is a player of Union Sportive Douala, is reported to have suffered a heart attack on the morning of Friday, May 13 during the final session of the preparatory training.

Union Sportive Douala in a press release says " During this morning’s training session, Kouyekimana Camille a player of Congolese nationality received a shock to the chest causing cardiac arrest.

Thanks to the assistance of the medical staff of Union ( physio Patrick Takam and François Djiaga) the player was revived, thanks to appropriate resuscitation massages. He was later transported to the Ad Lucem Bonamoussadi hospital before being transferred to the Douala General Hospital where he receives full medical care by the club."

About the current state of the victim, the club notes that ” his condition has been stabilized according to doctors and the prognosis is no longer engaged. But, Camille remains under observation. We thank all the staff of the emergency department of the Douala General Hospital, especially Dr. Edimo and his team for the prompt response that helped save the life of our player. “
