West Brom cool off on Cameroon international

Henri Bedimo Henri Bedimo

The Baggies no longer looking at Lyon full-back Henri Bedimo.West Bromwich Albion have no intention of turning to Lyon left-back Henri Bedimo, the Birmingham Mail understands.

Albion have been linked with the Cameroon international since the turn of the year.

Bedimo, whose contract is up this month, has reportedly expressed a desire to move to the Premier League.

The Baggies are short of options at left-back with Sebastien Pocognoli the only specialist at the club.

But head coach Tony Pulis is no fan of the Belgian.

Pulis has preferred to field Chris Brunt, Jonny Evans and James Chester out of position while continuing the search for a left-back.

Albion have been keeping a watchful eye on 32-year-old Bedimo, who made 22 appearances for Ligue 1 Lyon last season.

But the full-back's age as well as his apparent loss of form and fitness has convinced them to look elsewhere.

Bedimo's potential involvement in year's Africa Cup of Nations, after Cameroon sealed qualification earlier this month, is believed to be a further deterrent.

It's thought Albion are now monitoring 22-year-old Charlie Taylor, Leeds United's Player of the Year.
