Sunderland and West Brom have been linked with Lorient’s Benjamin Moukandjo.

According to the Daily Mail (live transfer thread, July 20th 2016 at 15:57), Lorient are demanding £10 million for Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion target Benjamin Moukandjo.

The report claims that West Brom have enquired about the Cameroon international’s availability, while Sunderland are also monitoring the situation as they look to strengthen their squad.

Moukandjo, 27, has spent much of his career in France where before joining Lorient he had spells with fellow top-flight teams AS Monaco and Nancy.

Last season was arguably his best to date, scoring 13 league goals and prompting plenty of interest in his services as he enters the final 12 months of his contract with Lorient.

A switch seems likely, and Premier League duo West Brom and Sunderland are both in the market for a new forward and may see Moukandjo as a potential bargain buy due to his contract situation.

The Baggies are expected to lose Saido Berahino this summer, therefore Tony Pulis will want a competent replacement before the Premier League season begins in early August.

The Black Cats, on the other hand, will be looking to add a new forward in order to take the burden off last season’s top goal scorer Jermain Defoe – a player who turns 34 in October.

Moukandjo can be described as a strong, quick forward who is willing to run hard and work the channels.
