This was during the ceremony to receive New Year wishes from the staff of his ministry.
The minister of Sports and physical education, Adoum Garoua, has called on the staff of his ministry to be disciplined, have respect for hierarchy and work as a team.
He also urged them to treat administrative documents rapids as the ministry will embark on an emergency plan in 2014 which comprise the detection and grooming of young talents in all sports disciplines, the continuation of the National Programme for the Development of Sports infrastructure and further development of the Higher Institute for Youth and Sports, INJS-Yaounde.
Concerning the detection of young talents, the Minister said coaches will be appointed right down to the Divisional level to carry out the prospection work. There will also be the launching of construction work for the advanced football school in Yaounde. While the programme for the development of sports infrastructure will be accompanied by renovation work on the existing infrastructure so as to enable Cameroon host the 2016 feminine Africa Cup of Nations and the 2019 Nations Cup.
Regarding the participation of the Lions at the Brazil 2014 World Cup, the minister said everything will be done to make sure the Lions have an honourable performance. Prior to the Minister's intervention, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Samuel Wonyu gave an exhaustive account of the activities of the Ministry during 2013.
He disclosed that Cameroon participated in 82 international competitions during the year, winning a total of 163 medals; 66 in gold, 31 silver and 46 bronze. Some five personnel of the ministry granted medals during the last 20th May celebrations were awarded the medals.
