It’s been just a few days since we reported that Barcelona are in a rush to renew the contract of goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The 18-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Barça.
Andoni Zubizarreta and the rest of the sporting directive are aware that there are risks over the teenager’s continued future at the club.
They have good reason to be worried.
The rumours continue to circulate over Onana possibly moving to Arsenal, with the English club sounding out the Cameroon youngster for a possible move when his deal expires.
Barça don’t want surprises. Onana’s performances with the Juvenil have been consistently good – his games against Espanyol and PSG this season have been spectacular.
In England, they insist that Arsene Wenger will not throw in the towel and, if there are any problems over his renewal, Arsenal will be waiting.
Despite this, Barça remain relatively calm.
The club are convinced that talks over a new contract will end with the player committing to his future in Catalonia.
