OAPI Marks 51st Anniversary At Mbalmayo

Sport events and an excursion to the Ebogo tourist site were engraved in the organisation's annals.

Prior to the celebration of the African Day of Technology and the 51th anniversary of the African Intellectual Property Organisation, OAPI, staff and well wishers converged at Mbalmayo in the Nyong and So'o Division for commemorative activities.

Led by the General Manager of OAPI, Dr. Paulin Edou Edou, the convoy comprising of both senior and junior staff left Yaounde on September 12 determined to grab both the handball and footfall trophies. The OAIP handball and football clubs emerged victorious over Lycée Technique de New-Town and Mbalmayo's celebrated veteran football club respectively.

After handing over the trophies and medals of excellence to 10 officials, Dr. Paulin Edou Edou handed over a consignment of exercise books to students of College Saint-Cœur de Marie, Lycée Technique de New-Town and College Institute Djilo to encourage them on their quest for knowledge.

Another peak of commemorative activities took the OAPI convoy to the EBOGO touristic site where they discovered that the forest harbours the biggest tree in the world which is 88 metres tall and having a diameter of eight metres. It also echoed from the pleasure trip that the Nyong water enhances fertility and produces twins.

Marveled by the mysteries surrounding the site, the General Manager said the expedition to the EBOGO touristic site will enter the organisation's annals. It is worth of note that OAPI celebrated its 51th anniversary on September 13, 2013 under the theme; "Technology and Intellectual Property, Factors of the Diversification of the Economy". During the celebration, Penja White Pepper and Oku White Honey certified some months back received their registration certificates.
