Fans started to get suspicious when they saw Joel Embiid in a warm up suit for the first time on Monday. Joel Embiid had been in a suit the entire season, but why, out of no where, was he spotted in a warm up? It was the sort of little clue that Sam Hinkie would leave for the Sixers faithful to figure out.
And we know why.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Sixers have activated Joel Embiid for tonight’s game against the Wizards and he’s expected to played 15-20 minutes.
Embiid hasn’t played up to this point, but has been toted around as the Sixers franchise cornerstone, which is hard to imagine when he hasn’t played a game yet. Sources say that Sam Hinkie wants to see Embiid play so he can determine if he’s worth keeping if the Sixers have the opportunity to select Duke’s Jahlil Okafor or Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Tonight, the Joel Embiid era will officially being in Philadelphia. Who knows what to expect? All I know that this is an April Fool’s joke and you’ve been tricked! Hope we didn’t fool you guys too much. Joel Embiid will play eventually, just be patient.
