Bamboutos de Mbouda players strike over wage arrears and bonuses

The match between Bamboutos de Mbouda against Fovu Baham club, scheduled today in the framework of the 34th day of League 1, might not be played due to a strike by the Sebastian Boys.

Following its heavy defeat last Sunday at the Reunification stadium in Douala before New stars (0-3) in the context of the 33rd day of League 1 football, Bamboutos FC team returned to its base at Mbouda. After receiving 24 hours of rest, the players were expected Tuesday at the municipal stadium of Mbouda for their workouts. To the surprise of the technical staff, almost all players were absent .

"We demand our arrears for wages and bonuses. We produce our results, so leaders also maintain their commitments" explained a player on condition of anonymity. As for the home match against Fovu Baham, for the 34th day of the national championship of League, there will be no match. And we will no longer play if the money we demand is not made available “indicated the player.

Reached on telephone, Mathias Tangue, one of the leaders of the leading of the Department of the Bamboutos club confirmed the movement in the mood of his players. However, he wished to make the following clarifications: "when it comes to rewards, we just send a sum of one million FCFA to settle all arrears of premiums.

With regard to wages, the settlement of this debt does not depend on us. The players know that it is the subsidy that leaders receive from the League of professional football in Cameroon which is paid as salary to players.

Therefore, unpaid wages is not our fault. Notwithstanding these explanations, the players continue to brandish their threat to boycott the rest of the Championship. A meeting is announced tonight at Bamboutos de Mbouda between the direction of the club and the players.

Since the kickoff of the season last January, it is the second time that Sebastian boys are claiming their bonuses.
