Scores of irate fans booed and shouted insults and even tried to block the exit of the technical staff of Bamboutos of Mbouda after a shock 0-1 defeat to Yong sport Academy of Bamenda at the MTN Municipal Arena in Mbouda on Saturday April 4th 2015, in a mtach counting for the 9th day of play in the National Elite one championship.
A 35th minute goal from the league’s leading scorer Kongnyuy Jude following an assist from Mawuba Ntouba after some brilliant display by Nigerian import Koyenha Isioma to displace three defenders was all it took to separate the two teams.
Earlier on in the 3rd minute of the game, Isioma wasted a one-on-one with goalkeeper Kologni Isreal who palmed his effort for a corner after been served with a headed pass by Kongnyuy Jude.
Despite having a bulk of the possession, Bamboutos created very few chances. Forwards Mouangue Otele and Tamo Tinvo were limited to only half chances by Meyoupo Stephane and Kombouo Fanedou who marshaled a robust defense line.
Bamboutos would have pulled a level later on but substitute Zebaze Guy Roger and Otele were guilty of very poor finishing instead of assisting Yosa’s defense to clear off chances, and when they succeeded to beat the defense, Nyokon Tonye was in excellent form to keep them at bay.
Nyokon Tonye became a very unpopular figure with the home spectators as he wasted several minutes down injured and when he was booked for time wasting, he went down seconds after drawing shouts and boo from the home fans for killing precious time.
After the final whistle, players of Yosa walked up to the travelling fans to applaud and commute with them for their support before singing the team’s anthem together with them.
The results take the Bamenda outfit to 2nd spot on the log on 16 points, two behind leaders Lion Blesse of Foutouni with a game in hand and one above Coton sport of Garoua with two delay matches.
Reactions Ojong Ekuri Midfielder Yosa: As I told you last time, there are days you play well and lose, today we came here prepare knowing that we needed all the three points. Today, I am overwhelmed with joy and we are now looking forward to our next match and the next three points
Elice Nyeck defender and captain Bamboutos: Nothing went on well for us today, we have learned our lessons and will try to correct all these in our next game against Tonnere in Yaoundé. That is football, there are days like this that your best is not enough.
