Busy Schedule for Cameroon's Trainer

Jean Paul Akono is currently in Europe to dialogue with some key players before the publication of the list ahead of the match against Cape Verde.

There is no respite for the newly appointed coach of the Indomitable Lions, Jean Paul Akono as he set to work immediately. Shortly after his appointment, Jean Paul Akono made known his roadmap to lift the challenge of beating Cape Verde and qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations to take place in South Africa next year and has remained faithful to that plan of action. Shortly after his appointment, Akono was received by the Prime Minister and Head of government, Philemon Yang in the company of the Minister of Sports and Physical education, Adoum Garoua, the Team Manager, Rigobert Song and the erstwhile captain of the Indomitable Lions, Samuel Eto'o Fils.

Though no word filtered out of the meeting, it was evident it was to reconcile the warring parties and usher the return of Eto'o Fils to the national selection. On Wednesday September 26, Akono held a working session with his assistant, Ndtoungou Mpile, the Team Manager, Rigobert Song and Team Press Officer, Linus Pascal Fouda at the premises of the National Technical Directorate before taking off for France to continue his mediation effort with some key players of the national team such as Nicolas Nkoulou, Armel Jean Kana Biyik and Jean II Makoun. The coach returns to the country on Saturday, September 29th and will be publishing the list of players to defend the national colours on Monday, October 1st.

While awaiting the publication of the list, information filtering out from the corridors of the national team says the list will comprise 40 players including some home-based players and runaway professionals who have put a pause on their participation in the national team. The training camp begins on October 8th and will take place at the CAF Technical Centre in Mbankomo near Yaounde.
