The Cameroon Sambo team has won the 5th edition of the African Sambo championship that took place on Sunday 28th September 2014 at the Yaounde Multipurpose sports complex.
During the competitions, Cameroon grabbed seventeen medals, six in gold and others in silver and bronze.
The Championship was presided over by the Minister Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua. One of the most outstanding performances from the Cameroon Sambo team was in weight lifting.
Mbiamou Aime was crowned the champion of the day in the Men’s 100kg category closely followed by Mess Patrice who recorded 82 kg, Mbolo Luc Daniel 68 kg and Dongho Lionel at the bottom with 57 kg.
Eleven delegations from Algeria, Morocco, Mauritius Island, Central African Republic, Burundi, Tunisia, Niger, Congo, Benin, Djibouti and Cameroon took part in the competition.
Cameroon gets the trophy for the first time after Morocco that has retained the title for four successive times.
