Upon a request from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and Cameroon Sports and Physical Education Ministry, NODA Akemi, Japan Football Association(JFA) councilor who was dispatched by the association, visited the African country and held a seminar for its female coaches as a lecturer on 20 April.

Cameroon is an African powerhouse, who got through the group stage in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. But because they had strong impression from Nadeshiko Japan as the two teams played against each other in the group stage, they asked the JFA to cooperate for the development of Cameroon’s women’s football and it came to be realised.

Ms. Noda lectured to the 37 participants on the Technical analysis that the JFA did during the World Cup and that how Nadeshiko Japan analysed themselves as well as their own issues going forward, using video footages. Also, they held a discussion on the Cameroon Women’s National Team’s strengths and issues. During the two-and-a-half hour seminar, the participants were actively involved as if they did not notice the progress of time.

Manga Onguene Jean, FECAFOOT General Manager,Technical Department

JFA analysed the entire 2015 FIFA World Cup and made assessments on their own team from an objective standpoint, trying to reflect them in the training of youth generation and that was impressive. Also, their discussion on the strengths and weak points about the women’s football in Cameroon was very beneficial. If we keep working on things like this continuously, I felt that it will lead to the development of Cameroon’s women’s football.

In the seminar by Ms. Noda, it was two-way discussions between the participants and herself, so it was easier for us to understand the content and it was great that we have active discussions.

I’m the only female coach in the top division of our men’s league. But I thought I had a great time participating in this seminar. I hope FECAFOOT to have more opportunities like this going forward.
