Cameroon kick-off Asia tour against Indonesia

Cameroon will battle Indonesia in a friendly in Sidoarjo on Wednesday, to launch their Asia tour scheduled during the next FIFA window.

This will be the Indomitable Lions’ first outing since their group stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial Guinea 2015.

For the occasion, national coach Volker Finke made a few changes to his AFCON squad, leaving out injured Nicolas Nkoulou and Edgar Salli, as well as goalkeeper Pierre Sylvain Abogo, full-back Cédric Djeugoué and midfielders Georges Mandjeck and Patrick Ekeng Ekeng.

Meanwhile, the German called up former Espérance de Tunis centre-back Yaya Banana, Coton Sport defender Moussa Bana and Sporting Gijon midfielder Dani Ndi, who could all be making their international debut.

Injured against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, Schalke 04 forward Eric Choupo-Moting has, however, been included, as well as his teammate Joël Matip who last appeared with the Lions at the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Lying 156th in the latest FIFA rankings, Indonesia’s latest results include a 5-1 thrashing of Laos, a 0-4 defeat to Philippines and a 2-2 draw with Vietnam.

The two sides only met once previously, for a goalless draw in a friendly in November 2012.

Cameroon will then face Thailand in Bangkok on March 30.
