Two athletes from Cameroon have disappeared from their Commonwealth Games camp – just hours after arriving in Scotland.
The wrestlers absconded from their training base at Aberdeen Sports Village on Monday.
The African nation’s 70-strong team had arrived earlier in the day and police are hunting for the pair.
A police source said: “We don’t yet know the reason for their disappearance, but it’s understood they want to stay in the UK for economic and political reasons.
“Athletes from the Cameroon also absconded during the London Olympics in 2012 so we aren’t surprised given the political unrest over there at the moment.”
