Ghana and Cameroon will battle for gold in the women’s event at the 11th African Games Brazzaville 2015 after victories in the semi-final matches on Tuesday in Kintele.

Ghana’s Black Queens beat ‘Les Elephantes’ of Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 whilst ‘Les Lionnes’ of Cameroon eased past the Super Falcons of Nigeria 2-1 to confirm their places for the most important match at the tournament.

The encounter will serve a repeat of the final edition four years ago in Maputo, Mozambique where the Cameroonians triumphed, courtesy a Madeleine Ngo Mani goal.

The Ghanaians, who reached the last four after emerging luckier in the drawing of lots at the expense of South Africa, put up a superb performance to grab victory at the expense of the highly rated Ivorians.

In the second semis game, Cameroon led by two goals at half time to make matters worse for the Nigerians. Therese Abena scored the opener on 10 minutes before Ngo Mani doubled the lead four minutes.

The Falcons pulled one back through veteran defender Onome Ebi three minutes after the break, however the quest for the equalizer never saw the light of day.

Nigeria will face Cote d’Ivoire in the battle for bronze on Thursday ahead of the final meeting between Ghana and Cameroon on Friday.

Ghana and Cameroon played out a 1-1 draw at the group phase, whilst Cote d’Ivoire inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Nigeria at the same stage.
