FUFA unveils 'Vision Cameroon 2019'

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has unveiled their vision dubbed ‘Vision Cameroon 2019' that should be able to deliver success on the international stage.

The project that is planned in different phases includes identifying players, grooming them in line with the project and maintaining them for the cause.

On Wednesday, FUFA technical team composed of coaches, medics, managers, media personnel and support staff independently outlined their own requirements they need to achieve their road map.

Among the short and long term plans, Cranes coach Micho has set sights on CECAFA U-17, Senior Challenge Cup and taking the U-23 national team to the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

His target is also to take Uganda beyond the group stages of the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN). Despite qualifying for previous two editions of CHAN, the home based team has been ejected at the group level.

Addressing journalists at the FUFA offices in Mengo, Micho urged for collaboration to see Uganda qualify for the continental competitions.

“I call upon all Ugandans to come and we work as a unit. Qualification and performing excellently is very realistic mission, possible and attainable,” Micho said.

Micho believes that with the plans in place, Uganda can break its duck for the first time in decades and qualify for Africa Nations Cup in 2017 in Gabon.

He said that the plan is also keen on having Uganda in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
