Fifa Suspends Nigeria Football Federation

FIFA Emergency Committee has suspended the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), on grounds of government interference in soccer administration in the country.

According to a communiqué made public on Wednesday July 9, no Nigerian side of any sort including clubs can take part in international competitions be it regional or international. The decision comes after the elected NFF President Aminu Maigari, the Executive Committee and General Assembly were voted out of office on Saturday July 5, after being accused of mismanaging the nation's World Cup campaign. A sole administrator was appointed after a Jos court order to manage the activities of NFF until the mismanagement matter was resolved.

FIFA however states that the suspension will be lifted once the court decision is withdrawn and the properly elected NFF Executive Committee, the General Assembly and administration are able to work without any interference.
