Gabon beat Burkina Faso 2-0

Gabon got off their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group A campaign to a winning start recording a 2-0 triumph over 2013 AFCON losing finalist, Burkina Faso, in Bata on Saturday.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang broke the deadlock for Gabon with a 19th minute strike before Malick Evouna wrapped up the victory with the second goal in the 72nd minute.

Earlier, host Equatorial Guinea was held to a 1-1 draw by Claude Le Roy’s Congo, in the other Group A encounter in Bata.

Captain Emilio Nsue opened the scoring for the Equato-Guineans with the tournament’s first goal in the 17th minute, but Thievy Bifouma struck a late goal in the 87th minute to ensure the game ended in a stalemate.

The tournament continues on Sunday with Zambia facing DR Congo in Group B while Tunisia play against Cape Verde.
