South Africa and Ajax Cape Town striker Prince Nxumalo says he'd like to play for the national against Cameroon on Saturday.

Bafana Bafana are in their second day in camp ahead of the two-legged 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against the Indomitable Lions.

The 25-year-old was speaking to the media after their training session on Tuesday at University of Johannesburg's Soweto Campus saying he's delighted to be part of the national team.

“I'd like to play for the national team against Cameroon and I'd be happy to play in both legs,” said Nxumalo.

“I'm happy to receive my second call up because I wasn't available to honour the first one, I'm happy as it is my first camp with Bafana Bafana.

“I've received a warm welcome from the guys and they're happy to have me in the team.”

Speaking on the role of scoring goals for the team considering the fact that coach Shakes Mashaba emphasised the need to score and win both matches, the Urban Warrior adds that he will try his best to score.

“If the coach gives me a chance to play, I will try by all means to score and help the team,” adds the ex-SuperSport United forward.

“There are other strikers besides me who can score if they play, yes, the likes of (Thamsanqa Gabuza and Tokelo Rantie) may not be in form for now. But based on what I saw in training, I believe that if they get selected they can score goals.

“I think the fact that I managed to get a second chance is down to my family, they helped me a lot and to continue where I left off.

“A lot has happened at the time when I received my first call up, it's also about dedication to the game and work hard as well as forgetting what other people say.

“Yes people will always talk but if you remain focused and show determination combined with support from the club teammates and at home. That has helped me a lot and you're bound to succeed.”
