Interview - 'We Hope to Bring the Cup to Bamenda'

Ndumbe Bosso, coach of Yong Sports Academy, Bamenda, talks on the club's chances of winning the Cup of Cameroon football final for the first time.

How fit is YOSA for the Cameroon Cup final?

After our qualification match against UMS of Loum, we did not lie on our laurels. We started training immediately. We train once a day and presently we are also working on the physical and psychological state of our players.

Psychology because a player can be physically fit, but if he is psychologically disturbed, he cannot play well. We have been camping in Bafut in the past two weeks to put our players in good form. As of now, we do not have any problem as all the players' dues have been paid and the players are fit for the game.

Why the choice of Bafut for the camp?

We chose Bafut because we want to keep away from town and moreover, the Bamenda Mankon Stadium is not a grass field. We wanted a familiar ground like the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde where the final will be played.

Now that YOSA is to play the Cameroon Cup final, have you recruited some new players?

We did not find any need to recruit new players to play the Cup of Cameroon. The players that qualified the team will play the final since they know the spirit of the game. The new players we have will start the new league in January 2014.

What can you say about your opponent, Canon Yaoundé?

We have a lot of respect for Canon Yaounde. Canon is one of the big teams in Cameroon but the two games we played both home and away in the league against them were draws. A football match can only be won in a football field.

What message do you have for your players and supporters?

All the players are playing the Cup of Cameroon for the first time, so I have been telling them to put in their best. It will be a privilege for them to play in front of President Paul Biya. It will also be a matter of pride for us to win the Cup of Cameroon. We hope to bring the cup to Bamenda. To the population, I call on their support for the victory of YOSA.
