Joel Embiid’s stress fracture in his back concerns teams

Kansas Jayhawks big man Joel Embiid was stellar for his team in his freshman season and has drawn considerable attention ahead of the draft. Embiid even has the potential to go with the No. overall pick in the draft but there might be a wrench in the system for Embiid, the stress fracture in his back.

This injury kept Embiid out of the entire NCAA Tournament. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that Embiid has been on the court shooting in recent weeks, but he reportedly won’t attend the scouting combine. Embiid still reportedly has not been cleared for full contact, and that could be causing some teams to back off and act cautiously towards Embiid.

This might cause Embiid to undergo multiple physicals instead.

“They may have to do multiple physicals now,” one NBA general manager told Yahoo Sports. “It’s more of a concern about Embiid than Parker, given [Embiid's] back issues.”
