Lions in search of a point to qualify for AFCON 2015

Indomitable Lions are in search of only a point to qualify for the 2015 edition of the African Cup of Nations and they will hope to get it when they host DR Congo in a Group D qualifier.

The match will take place on Saturday at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo with kick-off set for 16h00 (CAT).

Cameroon have been almost faultless in their qualifying campaign having scored eight goals and only conceding one which sees them top Group D with ten points from four games.

Cameroon beat DR Congo 2-0 away from home in their first outing thanks to goals from Clinton Njie and Vincent Aboubakar. They followed that up with a 4-1 thrashing of Cote D’Ivoire at home with both Njie and Aboubakar scoring a brace each.

Cameroon stuttered slightly in their next outing when they played to a 0-0 draw away to Sierra Leone. They bounced back at home, however, in their most recent match with a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone thanks to goals from Leonard Kweuke and captain Stephane Mbia.

DR Congo, on the other hand, have won two games and suffered two defeats which sees them placed second in Group D with six points, the same number of points as Cote d’Ivoire but with a superior goal difference.

In their very first outing in Group D DR Congo suffered a 2-0 defeat to Cameroon, but they have shown in their following matches that they are capable of so much more.

After their first defeat DR Congo bounced back with a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone thanks to goals from Ndombe Mubele and Jeremy Bokila.

Their third qualifying game saw them suffer another setback with a 2-1 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire, but again they bounced back with an impressive 4-3 win over the same opponents thanks to goals from Neeskens Kebano, Junior Kabananga and a brace from Bokila.
