"Lowly" Thailand gives "mighty" Cameroon a scare

According to Cameroon's World Cup legend Roger Milla, his country should not have been on the same pitch as "lowly" Thailand last night. He was wrong. The Thais gave Cameroon a big scare before falling 3-2.

Nor should the Cameroon national team officials have scheduled a match with weakling Indonesia, ranked even lower than Thailand.

"Confronting Indonesia and Thailand is a humiliation for Cameroon," Milla told the domestic media.

"How can a country like Cameroon pick such football nonentities to play international friendly matches against?

Well, the two matches have now been played and it will be interesting to hear what, if anything, Roger Milla has to say.

Cameroon did manage to beat both countries, but only with great difficulty. The Indomitable Lions, as the team is known, scored only one goal in beating the Indonesians last week and last night in Rajamangala National Stadium, they found themselves two goals down before eking out a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

The home team raced to a 2-0 lead with goals from Prakit Deeprom (14) and Chedjou Aurelien's own goal (32). Benjamin Moukandjo cut the deficit to 2-1 just before half-time.

The Indomitable Lions regrouped in the second half and got two late goals from Clinton Njie (76) and Gweni Ndassi (88).
