FC Barcelona star Neymar has now overtaken African legend Samuel Eto’o’s record season for most goals in a single campaign at Camp Nou.
The Brazilian took his overall tally to 37 goals in 47 games, following his crucial brace in the 3-2 defeat at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Neymar’s tally of 37 strikes is one goal better than Eto’o’s best season at Camp Nou, when the Cameroon striker scored 36 goals in 2008/09.
The 22-year-old has now scored nine goals in the Champions League, 22 in La Liga and six in the Copa del Rey – while Eto’o had scored 30 in La Liga and six in the Champions League, while drawing blanks in the Copa del Rey.
However, Eto’o’s Barcelona won the treble back in 2008/09, something Neymar and the current Blaugrana side are still striving to do.
After progressing 5-3 on aggregate, Barcelona have booked their place in the Champions League final on 06 June, one week after they are set to face Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final.
They have the first chance to clinch a trophy on the weekend, where a victory at Atletico Madrid would see them win the La Liga title.
