Ngo Ndom nominated for CAF Women’s Player Of The Year Award

Lionesses’ goalie, 29-year-old Annette Flore Ngo Dom who plies her trade for FC Union Nové Zámky, Slovakia, is among the nominees for CAF Awards in the Women’s African Player of the Year category.

Two-times Slovakia champion, Ngo Ndom also emerged the best goalkeeper of the TN Mobile 9th edition of the African Women Championship, Namibia 2014.

The Cameroon Vice-champion stood out with her exploits at the African Women Championship when she played the first two games without conceding a goal as Cameroon beat South Africa 1-0 in the first match and Algeria 2-0 in the second.

Though conceding a goal against the Black Queens of Ghana, the All Africa Games gold medalist, Maputo 2011 made memorable saves that took the Lionesses to the semi-finals following the Cameroon-Ivory Coast 2-1 lead.

Conceding two goals in the finals against Nigeria, the Bronze medalist at the 2012 African Women Championship, Equatorial Guinea was however the most active goalkeeper of the competition.

The former player of the Black Queens of Mfandena and Louvres MINPROFF would have a stiff run for the title with two other players from Nigeria, Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria and River Angels) and Desire Oparanozie (Nigeria and Guingamp) the best player of the African Women Championship.

The Lionesses are also nominated in the African Women Team of the Year category and are still on the race with the Super Falcons and their U-17 squad.

A ceremony to discern the winners in the different categories of the CAF Awards is set for January 8 in Lagos Nigeria.
