Queens Park Rangers plot transfer of Samuel Eto'o; agent in jet

Harry Redknapp wants to strike a deal to bring former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o to Queens Park Rangers.

And now the 34-year-old's agent, Claudio Vigorelli, is flying to London to try to thrash ?out an agreement.

QPR boss Redknapp sees Eto'o as having the experience to be a perfect signing, on a one-year deal, to help the newly-promoted Londoners survive their first season back in the top flight.

Wages could be a stumbling block though - it will be down to Eto'o to fall into line with QPR's pay structure for an agreement to happen.

The Cameroon international is keen to stay in London after his year down the road at Stamford Bridge, which ended on a sour note after Jose Mourinho questioned his age.

Ex-Barcelona and Inter Milan star Eto'o was keen to move to Arsenal to prove a point to Mourinho. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was sounded out, but has not yet bitten.

Other ?clubs have shown an interest in Eto'o and he has had big offers from clubs outside the Premier League, but his priority is to remain in London - and in the Premier League.

That will give QPR hope that they can pull off the signing.

Redknapp wants to build a squad with proven quality, having already snapped up centre-backs Rio Ferdinand, after he left Manchester United, and Steven Caulker of Cardiff.

Eto'o is prepared to listen and Vigorelli will now try to broker a deal with QPR, who are anxious also to keep their financial house in order after their last turbulent season in the Premier League.
