Roger Milla loses FIFA age record

In 1994, Roger Milla became the oldest man to have played in the finals of a FIFA World Cup.

He was more than 42 years old, when Cameroon played against Japan in the group stages. He held the record for 20 years, until it was broken during the edition of the ongoing tournament in Brazil.

Columbian goal keeper Faryd Mondragon is now the oldest man to have played a world cup match.

He was just over 43 years when he came in as an 85th-minute substituted for Columbia against Japan.

However, Milla scored a goal against Russia, setting a record as the oldest goalscorer in a World Cup tournament.
