S. Leonean John Kamara on CMR return prevented from playing in his Greek club

The Sierra Leonean John Kamara, who plays for second division Greek club, complained Friday that he has forcefully been imposed a long rest period due to Ebola on his return from the AFCON qualifications.

In an interview with the BBC, John Kamara, back from Cameroon where his team had lost 2-0 in Yaounde Wednesday, declared that the PAS Lamia club imposed that he "may not be with the team during 15-21 days because he went to play in Africa and because of the Ebola virus".

"I was told to stay at home or travel abroad to go see my family and not train", laments John Kamara.

PAS Lamia downplayed the case, ensuring that the period of rest suggested to John Kamara was much lower. "We told the player to rest for two or three days and next week he will join us. After the match played Sunday against Fokikos, he will be with us again," said the president of the Panourias Papaioannou club to the Greek website Sport24.gr.

The president assured that the case "was poorly presented". "He was not contaminated by the Ebola virus. Currently, he is in Athens and we expect him in the coming days in Lamia, 180 km north of Athens.

Reached by telephone by AFP, the Greek centre of control and prevention of epidemics (Keelpno) said the matter is under investigation.
