Cameroon women’s football team coach,Enow Ngachu, has summoned two foreign-based players as the hosts continue to prepare extensively for the Africa Women Cup of Nations set to be held from November 19 to December 3.The Switzerland-based duo of Sophie Tardy and Saphyra Nkomo joined the Indomitable Lionesses at the Fecafoot Technical Centre at Odja on Monday for residential camp in Yaounde where they are based.
Born in Switzerland, Tardy and Nkomo have finally been cleared by Fifa to feature for Cameroon following their earlier application that clearly indicated their will to turn out for the West African nation after proving they have never played for Switzerland.Ngachu, who is seeking to maximize his side’s potential when they come up against the best teams on the continent, is leaving no stone unturned.
Tardy brings a lot of experience and physicality to the Lionesses’ central defence, an advantage that is expected to compliment Ngachu’s fairly offensive outfit.Meanwhile, Russian-based forward Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene (Rossiyanka), Ejangue Augustine Sylvia Siliki (Fortuna, Denmark) and Tchadeu Gyslaine (Panthere Security) are also part of the provisional side keen to challenge for the continental title.
Ngachu has also welcomed back Africa’s most valuable goalkeeper Ngo Ndom Anette Flore from her maternity leave with the London 2012 Olympian poised to boost the Indomitable Lionesses.Cameroon will be looking to build on their experience at the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada where they scored nine goals in three Group C matches becoming only the second African team to qualify for the round of 16.
The continent’s premier women’s tournament has attracted seven other countries including Egypt, Ghana, Kenya,Mali, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe
