The former captain of Cameroon Professional League two side, Douala Athletic Club, Frederico Bangwem, has signed a one-year contract with current Cup of Cameroon holders Union Sportive Mouvement of Loum worth FCFA 14 Million.
President Pierre Kwemo of UMS loum broke the bank to get the services of the product of the football academy of Samuel Eto’o Fils, Fundesport based in Douala. Frederico accepted to sign for the Loum outfit in a deal that will remain so far as the biggest contract in the history of the club ever sign by a player.
The signing of Frederico Bangwem by UMS Loum for such an amount is a plus to the Cameroon Professional Football League that dreams of a championship where the market value of a player is a sign of good financial benefit.
After his signing, Frederico Bangwem was presented to the public by the management of the club over the weekend at the club headquarters in Loum. The former DAC 2000 captain after spells in Equatorial Guinea will be out to demonstrate his talent with the 2015 Cameroon challenge Cup winners.
“First I have to play, prove and contribute to victories of the team. Then we will see. I am delighted to be involved in such an ambitious club that has as its head a man who decided to put substantial resources to achieve its goals. To us players our objective is to play with trophies,” Frederico said.
“I admit that when we talk about UMS loum, it’s my name that comes first. It is a personal challenge but l cannot reach without the participation of my teammates,” he added.
The club’s management presented the newly recruited player as a powerful midfielder who is very comfortable at the technical side and can read a game very well. That his versatility is a big plus to the team that is in three fronts championship, CAF Cup and Cup of Cameroon this season.
Frederico has been given jersey number 23 and his new club recorded a brilliant three to zero victory at the weekend in Ombe over South West flagbearer Dynamic of Buea in a day 2 encounter of the championship.
