Union leads League I football championship

They beat Cosmos 3-0 on the 15th day of play over the weekend to join UMS at the helm of the table.

Union Douala is the new leader of the league one championship after having walloped relegation threatened cosmos of Mbam 3-0 on the 15th day of play over the weekend. Union has 27 points same as UMS of Loum but outsmarts UMS due to goal advantage. Meanwhile UMS dropped to the second position after playing a one-all draw against New Stars.

However the most spectacular rise on the point tally sheet is Coton Sport of Garoua who moved up two places to occupy the third position thanks to their 2-0 victory over Botafogo on the 15th day of play.

Unisport also moved two places up the league table to join the contention for leadership in the fourth position with barely three points away from the league leaders. Canon on the contrary dropped from the 4th to the sixth position after having played a goalless draw against Aigle Royal.

The situation at the middle of the table remains pretty stable with Yong Sport moving up from the 10th to the 8th position, same as Astres which moved from the 9th to the seventh position after recording victories against Panthere and Eding Sport respectively over the weekend.

Racing continued its downward glide and now occupies the 9th position after bowing 0-1 to their fellow brothers from the West Region, Bamboutos. The status quo is maintained in the lower part of the table with Panthere, Aigle, Lion Blessé, and dragon remaining stagnant in the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th positions respectively despite recording defeats on the 15th day of play.

At the bottom of the table, Apejes, Cosmos and Botafogo continue languishing in the relegation zone with Apejes and Cosmos exchanging positions as Apejes moved one place up to the 16th position thanks to the 1-1 draw against Lion Blessé and Cosmos moving down one place to the 17th position after losing 0-3 to Union.
